function DbInfoDescription() { document.write('Created in 1785, Northumberland County is located in east-central New Brunswick and was one of the province\'s original eight counties. It is bordered by Restigouche, Gloucester, York, Sunbury, Victoria, and Kent counties. Compiled from microfilm copies of federal documents in the National Archives of Canada, this database is an index of census records of county residents in 1901. The database includes the following subdistricts: Glenelg (F), Hardwicke (G), Ludlow (H), Nelson (I), Newcastle (J), North Esk (K), Rogersville (L), and South Esk (M). The records provide each resident\'s name, birthplace, and relationship to the head of household. Film, district/subdistrict, page, entry, and family numbers are also provided to help researchers obtain the original record, if desired. Containing the names of more than 14,000 individuals, this database can be a helpful and informative collection to researchers of eastern Canadian ancestors. <p>Every effort has been made to transcribe the names as the enumerators in the original schedule recorded them. Poor film quality, poor handwriting, and poor spelling did effect the interpretation of many names. In subdistrict J, Newcastle, page 18 was missing.'); }
