function DbInfoDescription() { document.write('<p> "The Official Roster of Ohio Soldiers in the War with Spain, 1898-99" was compiled under the direction of Frank B. Willis, Governor, Charles Q. Hildebrant, Secretary of State, and Benson W. Hough, Adjutant General of Ohio and published under the authority of the General Assembly in 1916. It is the official record of the Ohio regiments in the Spanish-American War. After the <i>Maine</i> was exploded in Havana Harbor, the United States decided to avenge the deaths of the ship\'s men by going to war with Spain. When the president asked for troops, Ohio answered the call, and this database is a record of the more than 19,000 men from Ohio who served in the war.<p>Ancestry.com regrets to inform you that Debra Graden passed away unexpectedly.
